Hello and welcome to Fame Studio.

I am Lawrence Chan, a professional vocal coach here at Fame Studio. I am a member of the Royal Conservatory of Music and have had professional training with Mr. Seth Riggs at Speech Level Singing (as known as SLS). I have had professional vocal training, won several singing competitions, and received many awards. Because of my singing background and passion for singing, I became a vocal instructor as well as a performer. I have performed at a variety of different events and shows held by local television and radio stations. In addition, I was also part of the judging panel at various singing competitions. Music is my passion and a huge part of my life.

There are many vocal coaches and every coach will have their own style in teaching. It is very important that you choose the right one that suits your needs and expectation. If you are interested in learning how to sing, doesn’t matter if you are a beginner, amateur, or a professional singer, I am sure I can be of assistance to you.

Depending on the student’s level of singing, I will teach them the fundamentals of singing, guide them through their songs and provide feedback and advice on how to improve on the execution of those songs, the vocal arrangements, vocal phrasing, articulation, enunciation, pitch, volume, placement of sound, breath taking (e.g., when to breathe during a song to minimize discomfort and maximize breath availability and relaxation), rhythms, voice control and most important, how to sing with emotion and feeling so the song will be alive. Students will also learn how to seamlessly transition and blend between vocal registers, and smoothly sliding between notes (legatos). By doing all of the above, my students will be able to sing flawlessly and effortlessly.

Being an experienced singer and performer, I know for a fact that not only do you have to sing flawlessly, but interacting and communicating with the audience also plays an important role when performing on stage. Therefore, I will also provide advice on stage presence, which involves making eye contact with the audience, body movements, posture, hand gestures and microphone handling techniques.

My goal is to help each and every one of my students to sing confidently, flawlessly, emotionally and most importantly, enjoy singing.
